Ten signs you may be a bit obsessed with the Shadow...

Yes, I know they do these for every fandom, but they always crack me up. Most here are my personal quirks.

1. Your favorite hat is a black fedora.
2. It's not merely your house/apartment/room, but your Sanctum!
3. You have looked up the word "Ying ko" on internet translators to see if it is actually Chinese. *
-Bonus if you had the nerve to ask an actual Chinese speaker and explain why.
4. Your cold weather clothing consists of a long black coat, black hat, and red scarf.
-Bonus: You tell people whom you are dressing as.
5. The last two novels you read were Shadow stories.
6. You infuriated your comic book-loving friend by bluntly stating that Batman was originally a rip-off of The Shadow.
7. You are fluent in 1930s slang.
8. Whenever you watch movies, you get excited if a character does something that reminds you of The Shadow.
9. You earnestly speculate about who might be able to play him in the forthcoming film.
10. Despite the fact that you have never even held a gun, you know The Shadow's automatics are Colt .45 M1911s.
-You do own a gun, and it's a .45. Or you wanted to buy one, but were advised against it because of the recoil.

Have you any to add?

So, CHECK

Actually, the recoil on the Colt .45 M1911s is not that much compared to other military sidearms. I was in the Military for 21 years and I am somewhat familiar with this. I also own a wide brim black fedora ( it is rather fetching). I meet most of your other criteria as well. People like us are great at parties (don't you find?).......The Shadow Knows.

LMAO ^_^ Alas, too many here would think I was just referring to the city.

Firstly, fedora hats off to our veterans. I was raised by my grandfather, a WW2 vet, and have come to the supposition that the military is a make or break test to a man's heart and soul.
Now, to address your comments, I think the key word there is military. This civilian, being female and not possessing so much upper body strength, has been advised that a .32 would be the wiser choice.
I read that the .45 has been used extensively as a military sidearm since the first world war. Since we learn that The Shadow is a WWI veteran himself, he must have begun carrying them at that time.

Yes. you are quite right, upper body strength is a factor. We ex-military types tend to forget the differences between ourselves and our civilian brothers and sisters, my apologies dear Lady. And yes, Kent Allard was indeed a fine Airman, as well as Intelligence Agent during WWI. He certainly served his country well, both during and AFTER the war. The Shadow Knows.

Had a customized Colt .45 Gold Cup along with a Colt .38 Gold Cup. The recoil was NOT that bad as we also had a S.& W .357 with the 8 and 3/8 in barrel with target everything. Later had a S. & W .44 magnum all of which were very accurate and fun to shoot.

As far as the rest of the qualifications are concerned have my share along with various books, CD radio shows, Dvd movies, etc.
