The Cobalt Club

The Shadow fan club.

Where would I find a good replica of the Shadow's ring?

I've looked in the obvious places but can't find a fire opal ring that would fit with what the Shadow would wear. Has anyone found a replica or a ring that is available that would fit with a Shadow Costume?

also, happy to be a new member here. The club looks great.

The Shadow Official Movie Magazine from 1994 has an advertiement from the Great American Ring Club for a film replica ring. They are offered in Silver and Gold versions, but I'm not sure if any were actually produced. The ring in the ad is the film prop one, with no images of any actual product.

The other rings are all "fantasy" rings, very different from what The Shadow would wear, from the Blue Coal to the Carey Salt plastic rings, to the 1994 Fan Club ring, which is a stamped band of brass. The Electric Tiki statue came with a plastic one which could pass as a Shadow Ring, but it's too bulky. The 1994 Diamond Distributors' ring is also nice and could be one to try: there is an affordable sterling silver version, readily available on eBay and a gold version which is way too expensive. In a pinch, I'd wear that one.

You can see some of the above in my website and the actual prop ring from the 1994 film here.

Good luck!

I spent a lot of time looking for a ring myself. There aren't a lot of options but there are some. The rings mentioned above are some of the most expensive options. The 94 replica goes for $600-$800.There is a Mexican silver company that makes superhero rings they make a Shadow ring for around $60-$70 but I've heard mixed reviews. If you buy a year subscription to the shadow reprints you get a replica of Gibson's Shadow ring but I've never heard any reviews of the quality of that ring. There's also a plastic toy ring from 94 goes for $20 but it rarely pops up.

I personally bought two of the rings below with plans on turning it in to a Shadow agent ring from the 94 movie. It looks a lot like the ring from the movie. The "opal" is orange/read the ring looks like brass and it has the same "braid" pattern around the opal. The only problem is the flower tacked on the side or eagle or in my case butterfly. All you have to do is heat the two little solder points and remove whatever is tacked on the sides. Then add the good/evil symbols from the movie. I didn't bid on the rings i just e-mailed the guy who is in china and bought them directly from him, but he seems to always have one on ebay with a starting price of around $2 (or .99GBP) If i ever get around to customzing mine I'll post a picture.

Ring on Ebay

SWEET, thank you both for the suggestions, I'll hit the man up on ebay and I have my eye on a few of the diamond ones as well.

happy to be here as well. I just grabbed a subscription of the pulp reprints for the ring, I'll give my review of it when it arrives.

Can you please post a link to the offer of the ring with the subscription? I can't seem to find it and would be interested in obtaining one.

Cheers,

-Nuno

Thank you!

Speaking of, in the pulps The Shadow actually has two rings, one had a seven pointed star under the jewel the other has a chinese symbol under the jewel anyone remember what the symbol was?

That would be the sign of Chow Lee.

Hmmm... Any idea what that's supposed to look like?

I have the silver replica ring, and also a silver Shadow Bust ring, both of which were offered (and produced) in gold or silver. They're nice, but a bit price-y; you can usually find them on Ebay...

The SHADOW replica ring from Sanctum Books [w/subscription] is plastic, gray-colored with a red plastic gem. It looks fine but is obviously not a real gem or metal ring. The closest I've seen is the '94 'Shadow Agent Ring' from the American Ring Co., in gold or silver. I picked up the silver for a little less than $200...Will post  photos in the photo section of the various rings...

Thx for the photos Bill. I see that the subscription ring is the same as the one supplied with the Shadow statue by Electric Tiki. Way too bulky and not practical to use. For me, the "HAHAHA" (for lack of a better name) Shadow Agent ring is the best looking one.
