Behind the Mask (1946)

This is the second in Monogram's series of B Shadow movies.

In the first movie Margo was a bit annoying as the jealous
girlfriend. In this movie she becomes VERY annoying and is joined by
Shrevy's jealous girlfriend to create a sort of "I Love Lucy" style
foursome. As the movie attempted to make comedy of Margo's jealousy
and her attempts to get Cranston to give up being the Shadow Margo
does more getting in the way than anything. At one point Margo pulls
the stunt of impersonating the Shadow with comical results. At
points I was not sure if I was watching I Love Lucy or the Shadow!

Ow yea... there was another more worth while plot about a killer
impersonating the Shadow but it gets eclipsed by the annoying-ness
of the comical jealous girlfriends sub-plot.

At the end the girls each get badly deserved spankings.

I have to confess that I have a certain fondness for this one as it was my first ever SHADOW movie that I saw...on television during the 50s. Margo in this entry in the series does fir the description that one historian
gave her in relation to the novels...Margo Lane, girl nuisance. I like finally how Cranston and Shrevvy tell off their respective girlfriends.

The film is still a lot of fun and Kane Richmond is still my first Shadow.
